Commissions

Something made for you

Every piece Jay creates is completely unique — tailored exactly to a client's requirements. He does not re-create prints, preferring to keep each one original.

Jay works directly with private clients, interior designers, architects, and corporate clients to create artwork that belongs in its space. Whether it's a single statement canvas for a living room or a large-scale installation for a commercial reception, the process begins with a conversation, a visual sketch, and then the envisioned creation on canvas.

He works in acrylic on canvas, often incorporating brushed steel, gold leaf, and mixed media for greater impact and individuality. Later pieces have included computer-based designs set onto acrylic or glass, which have an extraordinary visual impact. The medium is always chosen to serve the piece and the space it will inhabit.

All commissions are priced individually depending on size, medium, and complexity. Get in touch to discuss your project, there's no obligation, and Jay is happy to talk through ideas at any stage.

How it works

01

Get in touch

Drop Jay an email with a brief description of what you have in mind — size, space, mood, any reference images. There's no commitment at this stage.

02

Discussion & brief

Jay will get back to you to discuss the project in more detail, talk through ideas, and agree a brief. For larger commissions, a studio visit can be arranged.

03

Creation

Once the brief is agreed and a deposit is in place, Jay gets to work. You'll receive progress updates throughout, and have the opportunity to give feedback before the piece is finalised.

04

Delivery

Your finished artwork is delivered ready to hang, with a certificate of authenticity. Jay can also arrange installation for larger pieces.

Rip Curl — From Concept to Canvas

Every commission begins with an idea.

For Rip Curl, I developed an initial concept sketch exploring the movement, energy and curling form of a breaking wave. The sketch was shared with my client, whose enthusiastic response gave us the confidence to move forward.

The completed painting retained the sweeping composition of the original concept while introducing richer colours, intricate textures and a greater sense of depth and movement.

From the first sketch to the finished canvas, Rip Curl illustrates how a shared creative vision can develop into a unique piece of commissioned art.
